Why Winterize?
Winterizing your boat will not only preserve it through the winter months but will ensure a smooth start for the coming season. Every boater knows that the worst wear you can put on a boat is no wear at all. Unfortunately for most Northwest boaters, winter use is not an option. Without the proper preparation, storage for long periods of time may cause internal pars of the engine and transmission to rust due to lack of lubrication.
The average raw water cooled engine can hold up to 15 gallons of water internally, which when frozen can freeze and crack the engine block causing a very expensive and time consuming repair.
Winterizing your boat is both preventative maintenance as well as a chance to evaluate any wear or potential problems caused by the previous seasons use.
